Abstract


THE EFFECT OF PARENT EDUCATİONAL STATUS ON VALUE ACQUİSİTİON OF CHİLDREN
This study was conducted to determine whether there was a significant difference between the value acquisition of secondary school seventh grade students and the educational status of their parents. The sampling of the study consisted of 306 students who attended to private and state schools in Erzincan City, National Education Directorate. The Values Scale of Akbaş and the SED Questionnaire, which was prepared by Bacanlı, were applied to all of these students. In the analysis of the data, the Anova Variance Analysis was used. The issue of whether the parents’ being primary school, high school and university education graduates caused significant differences in terms of being tolerant, entrepreneurship, being respectful, aesthetical and being determined was investigated. No significant differences were determined between the variables except for the aesthetical values and mothers’ educational status, and being tolerant and fathers’ educational status. In the light of the data obtained in the study, recommendations were made to enable students to reach higher values and to determine the reasons of the differences that were detected in the study.
