Abstract


ANALYSING OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PERSONALITY TRAITS AND BURNOUT LEVELS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELORS
In this study, it was aimed to determine the factors affecting the burnout levels of the psychological counselors and to examine the relationship between burnout levels of the counselors and their personality traits. This quantitative study is designed as relational survey method. 164 psychological counselors who works at public schools were participated in the study Maslach burnout scale, five factor personality trait scale and information form were used as data collection tools. In order to analyze the data, independent groups t test, one way variance analysis, pearson correlation and multiple regression statistical methods were used. The findings revealed that psychological counselors' burnout situations and emotional balance personality traits are positively related. In addition, burnout of psychological counselors is negatively related to extraterrestrial personality traits and developmental openness personality traits. Female psychological counselors were more emotionally exhausted than male psychological counselors and their feelings of success decreased. On the other hand, male psychological counselors appear to have higher outward turnover and compliance personality traits than female psychological counselors. Moreover, married psychological counselors have a lower level of burnout than single counselors in all of the burnout dimensions. Lastly, psychological counselors with undergraduate degrees are experiencing more failure than psychological counselors with graduate degrees.
