Investigation of Teachers’ Perceptions about Hidden Curriculum through Metaphors
The aim of this study was to reveal teachers’ perceptions related to the concept of hidden curriculum through metaphors. The participants of this study were composed of 52 teachers from varying cities and branches. The data were collected using metaphoric perceptions form. The data were analyzed using content analysis technique. Nearly half of the participants viewed hidden curriculum as the complementary to instructional curriculum. Some of them characterized it as an element teaching life while some viewed hidden curriculum as a covert element. On the other hand, some of the participants regarded hidden curriculum as an uncontrollable element. In this direction, the future studies are recommended to investigate the teachers’ perceptions of hidden curriculum more deeply through interviews and reveal their thoughts in a wider perspective.
