Abstract


To Investigate in terms of the Mental Skills to Gains of Sixth Grade Social Studies Curriculum
In this study, it was intended to investigate the gains which are in the sixth grade of Social Sciences in terms of mental skills. Examining document, a technique of qualitative research, was used on the study. Data sources for analysis consist of the gains and skills which are in the new curriculum of Social Sciences. With those obtained data, 43 gains were examined independently. As a result of investigation, any gain representing skills which are the general skills of primary education such as “using information technology” and “using Turkish properly, beautifully and effectively” were not detected; however, 22 of gains, associated with higher-level thinking skills such as “research and critical thinking skill”, result in that gains are really suitable for preparing the main philosophy and vital facts of new curriculum.
